Clayton Vila: 2009/2010 Season Park Footage

Tim McChesney Joins PSAM

SEATTLE - (August 31, 2010) — Puget Sound Athlete Management (PSAM) welcomes skier Tim McChesney to its emerging group of talented athletes.

Originally from Bozeman, Montana, Tim is amongst a conglomerate of Park City transplants who are on the cusp of completely dominating the park scene.

Tim first left his mark in 2009 when he was nominated by a group of ski industry big wigs as a finalist in Level 1 Productions’ Super Unknown worldwide talent hunt.   He has been a mainstay in competition finals around the nation ever since, his most recent accolade being a 1st place finish at the Tom Wallisch Memorial Day Rail Jam.

When he wasn’t competing, Tim used his time filming for 4bi9 Media’s newest film “Gunnie Season”- to be released this fall.

Having spent the summer splitting his time between Mt. Hood, Whistler, and coaching at the Utah Olympic Park, Tim has his sights set high coming into the 2010/2011 season.  His schedule includes competing at the Breckenridge Dew Tour stop, and goals comprise of achieving a podium finish at a major event this winter while putting together a solid movie segment in the meantime.

“I’m excited to join forces with PSAM, and to begin exploring strategic ways to further my career,” said Tim of the signing.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PSAM’s Newest Athletes: Going Huge Below the Radar

SEATTLE - (August 3, 2010)  — Puget Sound Athlete Management (PSAM) proudly welcomes freestyle skiing phenoms Joss Christensen and Clayton Vila as the latest additions to its growing list of elite athletes.

Joss Christensen

Neither of these two young skiers are quite household names yet, although that is quickly changing. Powder Magazine recently named Christensen one of the top skiers in the world under age 18 while Vila was selected as a top-25 finalist among hundreds of entries in Level 1 Productions’ 7th annual worldwide talent hunt – Superunknown.

Clayton Vila

Having now signed with PSAM, Christensen and Vila round out what is rapidly shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive and elite rosters of young talent in the ski industry. PSAM founder Zach Davison explains this is not by accident.

“They’ve both positioned themselves within a very small group of athletes who excel in multiple disciplines. At just 18, I’ve watched Joss go toe-to-toe with some of skiing’s heaviest hitters, and oust them from podium positions in both slopestyle and superpipe competitions around the globe,” he added.

Despite back-to-back podiums at the 2009 and 2010 Dumont Cups, an appearance in Rage Films’ 2009 film “Pretty Good” and an exponentially growing internet fan base, Joss has somehow managed to dodge the spotlight. His most recent accolade came in the way of a 2nd place finish at the World Skiing Invitational at Whistler, British Columbia this past April.

“Working with PSAM will allow me to get on a path that helps achieve my goals,” said Christensen.

“Everything from planning, organizing, and making sure I am focusing on the things that will further my career as a professional athlete – it’s exciting and relieving,” he added.

Vila is no stranger to the podium either with multiple top-ten slopestyle and superpipe finishes. He’s also comfortable both in front and behind the lens – something especially unique for his age.

“Being competitive in different events is no easy task. Vila is a kid who has the potential grab multiple podiums during the course of a season, and then top it off with a banger closing segment the following fall,” said Davison.

Vila’s 2010 Superunknown edit showcased a mixture of street rails and ambidextrous park skiing that spoke with a style all his own. Vila, originally from Rhode Island, moved to Colorado last season to advance his skiing in a more competitive venue.

“Working with PSAM is a perfect opportunity to begin making good business decisions while working with a company that is well connected in the industry,” said Vila.

Clayton Vila

Vila spent the majority of last season filming a segment for Stept Productions’ 2010 release. He also did time in front of Warren Miller Entertainment’s lenses during a shoot for their upcoming movie this spring.

Look for Clayton in “Network” by Stept Productions and “Session 61” by Warren Miller Entertainment.  Both Clayton and Joss will be making appearances at the 2010 Dew Tour Qualifiers and other major competitions around the nation next winter.
